TMJ is the only dynamic joint around the head. The disorders in this area are called “TMJ disorders”. To treat such disorders,
Prosthetic treatment shall be done, in case they arise from missing teeth.
If they result from bad or inconvenient prosthesis, the prosthesis should be replaced.
If they result from grinding the teeth, dental night guards should be used.
Hot compression and joint exercises should be performed.
The jaw should not be opened too much.
Medication should be used when necessary.
Psychological support should be taken, if it is psychological.
Orthodontic treatment should be advised if they result from dental irregularity.
Surgical intervention should be performed, if necessary.
